When it comes to coloured diamonds, the aspect of colour and colour intensity is the most significant factor in assessing the value? So, it’s critical to understand their colour grades and descriptions.
Unlike a colourless diamond where the 4Cs (carat weight, clarity, colour, and cut) are all equally important to the overall value, the colour characteristics play the most important role in the value of natural coloured diamonds.

Fancy Colour Diamonds are found with 12 different colours – yellow, pink, blue, green, orange, brown, violet, gray, purple, red, fancy black, and fancy white. There are also over 90 secondary hues and over 230 colour combinations.
The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) developed an intensity grading scale in order to categorize the intensity levels in the diamond. The nine grades in the scale are;
About 90% of pink diamonds – some of the world’s most expensive gems – are found there.
“In terms of the pink diamonds, the impact is going to be even more dramatic” from Argyle’s closure, Rio’s Soirat said in the interview. “You can imagine the laws of supply and demand will apply, and you can imagine the impact that will have on those very rare pink, rad, blue and purple diamonds.”
